Parliament to review athletes’ failure in Olympics: MPTehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN – The sport committee of the parliament will review the causes of Iranian athletes’ failure in the Olympics 2008, MP Mohammad-Reza Tabesh told Mehr News Agency on Monday.
“It seems that we must review the roots of the Iranian athletes’ failure in the Olympics in (the committee’s) the first session,” he said. Tabesh added that some MPs propose firing Head of Iran’s Physical Education Organization (PEO) Mohammad Aliabadi but he is against any ‘prejudgment’. He suggested that every one should wait until the end of the game. “We hope that Iranian athletes in freestyle wrestling and taekwondo will compensate for the failure of other teams,” the MP stated. Iranian athletes have won no medal in the Beijing Olympic 2008 so far
