In the past not too much :) However these are strange and wonderful times the LSU nation is living in.
Last week it appeared that LSU's starting quarterback , Matt Flynn, hurt his ankle a tad during the game. Les Miles, know for pretty much lying like a dog about injuries, could not keep the magnify glass off this episode.
Nothing has been decided yet but looking at this article Flynn's status uncertain it appears up in the air. This New Orleans Picayune article appears to show evidence that makes me think it is unlikely he will play this Saturday unless just really needed. Les' radio show tonight made me think it is really really up in the air.
Anyway the Picayune reported this interesting bit of news last night:
On his radio show Wednesday night LSU coach Les Miles said quarterback Andrew Hatch, a transfer from Harvard, would be No. 3 on the depth chart.
That marks a change from the Virginia Tech game, when senior walk-on Jimmy Welker entered the close of the game to take a knee.
Normally, the No. 3 quarterback is not an area of concern, but with starter Matt Flynn nursing a sore ankle and probably unable to play the entire game against Middle Tennessee, Hatch's number could be called.
Andrew Hatch has a very interesting story about he got to LSU here at LSU has 'well-schooled' fourth-team quarterback. Freshman Jarrett Lee ,our hopeful future Quarterback stud from Texas, is a person that I expect we would like to keep a redshirt on for this year.
I think this shows again an asset of Offensive Coordinator Gary Crowton, who is a devout Mormon, and from Utah. There is some talent out west in the region where Hatch is from I would like LSU to a get a glimpse at. Crowton will be an asset with parents as he showed in the past especially recruiting some of those very enticing Samoan and Polynesia players out in the Islands. Another area I wish LSU would start exploring a tad. It is very difficult to get them off the west coast if they leave Hawaii but that is changing. Anyway look for this young man to get some playing time possibly if Flynn does not start.
