Maritime Sentry has a excellent find. It is a Blogger for Huckabee that is for focused on the second amendment. Go to his link to find more.
I do think people are missing the whole impact of the "gun" issue. I really don't know how Romney and especially Guillani are going to survive the Republican primaries on that issue. The NRA is going to be sending out their famous orange election day postcards by the bushel on this.
Also this is just not a "Southern Issue". Romney has some stroke in Michigan. However Michigan has areas of vast NRA members where this issue will be big. Ditto Pennsylvania and areas of New England and especially out west.
What about Fred Thompson? Well as much as Fred Thompson wants to run away from it he was a big supporter of Senator McCain's campaign finance law. That was at one time a Cardinal sin in Gun owner's eyes. If Conservatives are going to give Senator McCain grief over this then they should be darn well consistent and go after Fred Thompson on this matter.
That to me out of the viable folks leave Huckabee. This is in no way a dig at Senator Brownback(whom I admire). I just think at this point he is as viable as Tancredo or Duncun Huuter to get the nod for the nomination. Which is to say it aint going to happen.

I'm going to be writing soon about Giuliani's stand on Second Amendment rights as part of his overall strategy, which is NOT the Southern/Mountain West strategy of years gone by. He believes he has a chance to take New Jersey, PA, and perhaps NY. All the evidence suggests he's also doing well in the South (when paired against one of the Dems). There are ways to finesse the NRA issue, one that stresses the need to keep guns out of the hands of mental cases (Cho), criminals, and young children. Of course, in its heart of hearts the NRA opposes such "restrictions" on guns, but they will have a hard time selling opposition to common sense positions in line with traditional Catholic morality.
James, you constantly have one of the best blogs going. Keep it up. But say something nice about the Dawgs ok?
