What a week in college football. We shall look at LSU and LA Tech more tomorrow.
SEC Games to Watch-
Auburn V Miss State-(At Bama)
What is happening down at Auburn is sending some shock waves through the SEC. Auburn fans thought all the Saban stuff was tiring- Boy the Bama fans are smelling blood right now. I noticed during the Auburn's first game against Kansas St something was very very off that was not first game chitters. . Their loss against South Florida(another very good team on the rise) at home showed that even more.
I think one of the most interesting games of the week is occurring again at home for Auburn against Mississippi State. This will have a lot of repercussions no matter who wins or loses. Coach Croom is on the hot seat and I think Tubby is starting to feel some heat too. Look at this press conference that Coach Tuberville had. Pretty interesting Press conference. But as to Coach Croom of Miss State , Tuberville comes to his defense. We pick it up there:
“Mississippi State is an improved football team. Sylvester Croom has been working very hard on this team for the past few years. He’s had some setbacks, but I know he’s excited about this team.
“They opened up with a very good football team in LSU. You could tell how hard they played. It’s very hard to play against all the skilled players they had. They made some mistakes, fell behind and things just fell out of place for them.
“Last week they got back on track. They are a football team that will improve, like ours, as the year goes on. ‘I hear all of these things about Sylvester being on the ‘hot seat.’ If Sylvester Croom is on the ‘hot seat,’ then we need to look around the room and check ourselves.
“Here’s a guy that came in and took over a program that was dismantled and out of control. They needed someone to bring dignity and character back to their football program, and he has done that. I’m proud to say I’m a friend of his. He’s done it the right way. He didn’t just come in, skirt the rules and just try to throw a football team together to win. He’s looking out for those young guys. He’s doing it the right way. ‘If he stays there long enough I’d like for my kids to play for him. He’s the kind of coach that you would like to coach your kids.
Sylvester Croom
“It’s going to take him awhile longer than three or four years. When you take over a program in the shape that one was in, it takes awhile to get things going. I’m sure he’s got a 10-year plan. The problem is a lot of times people don’t wait 10 years. That’s their fault. When you take over a program .
10 Years!!!! Europe was rebuilt quicker. However he has a point and Coach Croom is making progress there. However he has to produce this year or he will be fired fired. Tuberville knows no fan base is going to buy into some 10 year plan. Note that Bama fans(that thinks the Universe revolves around them) thought that he was knocking Saban in those comments. I think Tuberville is sincere in his thoughts.
That being said what a game. Boudreaux the Clairvoyant Corndog is about to make a upset prediction here. Boudreaux thinks that Mississippi State upsets and will take the victory against Auburn on their own field!!!! If this happens expect total meltdown on the Plains and Celebration by the Croom family that they might be able to stay in Starkvegas or at least give them hope.
Reasons: The Mississippi team has improved. Their defense is not that shabby. Henig, the QB of Miss State, has recovered from a horrific performance against LSU and gave a solid performance against Tulane. Also it appears he has some real personal deep motivation to try to help his team defeat Auburn at Auburn. On the Auburn side , I am not sure that poor Brandon Cox can recover. He looks like a QB that took way too much physical abuse last year(Coaches fault) and has a glass jaw. I would not bet the family home on this bet but I think I would lay a few dollars on a Miss St upset.
Arkansas V Alabama(At Ark)
Little Nicky Satan of Alabama has a real team to play this week. I have been real bullish on Arkansas winning this game. However, Arkansas had a major injury with Monk and he is out for the game. Therefore Boudreaux the Corndog wants to look at Bama final injury reports before he makes his final predictions. I am still bullish on Arkansas even though the Bama nation is expecting Saban to lead them to the big V. Boudreaux will make a fearless prediction before the game though. Stay tuned.
Florida V Tenn(At Florida)
Every Game in the SEC spells danger. However Boudreaux makes a easy prediction here. Florida wins and Fulmer is on the coach's hotseat.
Louisville V Kentucky-(At Florida)
Boudreaux the corndog is feeling very bullish on Kentucky. Something is happening up at that school. Boudreaux the corndog was feeling slightly bullish on this game before Louisville played Middle Tenn last week. Does a Louisville Defense exist? Not saying that Kentucky is a big defensive power. Boudreaux predicts a Kentucky win and thus helping salvage the SEC image and brand that has taken a early beating so far.
Vanderbilt V Ole Miss-(At Vanderbilt)
Boudreaux is not ready to make a prediction on this game. Partly because even though Coach O is a fellow cajun, he really hates Ole Miss. Therefore his(yes corndogs have genders) feelings about picking Vandy might be misplaced. Yet he is leaning that way. This prediction will be finalized along with the rest Friday night or Saturday morning before the games begin.
Boudreaux predicts wins for Georgia, and South Carolina, and of course LSU(more on this game later).
