Louisiana Catholic Blogger RoundUp For August 25th

Many Louisiana Catholic Bloggers have not updated yet so this will be a shortone

From The Recamier has her post up today. She hits on on the Saint we celebrated yesterday. That is the apostle Saint Bartholomew. This is in my mind one of those almost forgotten Apostles for some reason. She has some good info on him at her daily post. She highlights a lot of important things that happened in history today. Including the BRITISH burning the White House on this day. How embarrassing. However we Americans talks about Dolly Madison and how she saved a picture and proceed not to dwell that our Capitol was invaded :)

Astonished, Yet at Home! has several links up. He has a vid of one my favorite songs. That is Ray Charles and Willie Nelson - Seven Spanish Angels .

He also hits on a series of post at Vox Nova I have mentioned dealing with the challenges of rural Appalachian. I have mentioned before that I was going to comments on them when they appeared they had finished. They might have. Check put his post Rural Appalachians and the Culture of Life . If they did indeed did finish I have to say it is sad they finished on that tone. It is not that he is bringing out concerns though I object too. Progressives and Catholics would do well if they could get through a series of posts without them being a screed on George Bush. It just sort of takes away from the message to me and even takes away from the fact that these problems are structural and can not be laid at the doorstep of any one politician that one wishes to make out as Dr Evil. That is just me. Look for my comments on these posts in the future.

Astonished has a post and a link regarding observations that Europe might not be lost. Go check out his post Reconsidering Europe. The Preacher to the Pope has some comments on the Sunday readings . Astonished has that link over at Enter Through the Narrow Gate . He has a interesting link I am going to check out later called Intolerable Secularists . He has Pope Benedict's comments on Mary's Glorification here. A link to Saint Louis King of France here.

He has a link to one of my favorite Priest convert bloggers that talks about the role of emotion in worship. Check out his post Emotional Worship. I mentioned in an earlier post this morning the media news about Mother Teresa and the Time Magazine article about it. He has a link here at his post called Extensive Profile on Mother Teresa's Long Dark Night of the Soul .

Finally he is sending out a call in his post A Catholic Literary and Philosophical Society at Your School . That organization has quite an active group at LSU and we should see some activity from them soon.

Catholic Tube that is one of the best Catholic resources on the net has a new vid up on Christ and his mother.

The Brown Pelican Society has a lot of posts up. They are NEED FOR MODEST CLOTHING LEADS WOMEN TO BEGIN OWN COMPANIES. A priest ways in on the hot button topic of immigration and illegal aliens at his post Elvira Arellano Deportation — Public Relations and Immigration Reform May Go Hand in Hand. He has a post on Mother Teresa called Mother Teresa Did Not Feel Christ's Presence for Last Half of Her Life, Letters Reveal.

He has a post on what the United States Catholic Bishops are saying as to marriage here at What Have You Done For Your Marriage Today? He has another post on the reflection on the reading for this weekends mass called THE SPIRITUAL LIFE IS A CONTINUAL STRUGGLE: NEVER GIVE UP.

The Brown Pelican has a very important post people in the US need to read here at USCCB Respect Life Program Packet for 2007-08 Now Available .

I am working my way through the posts and see something shocking. This is exactly 180 degrees opposite of what Louisiana did as to this matter. Go read New York Governor Moving Ahead With Bill to Remove Abortion Limits. . Alveda King, the niece of legendary human rights campaigner, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr had something that just makes one just want to collapse in shock. Go to his post One Quarter of Black Population Missing from Abortion Genocide Says Dr. Alveda King.

On a more happier note it appears Catholic schools are doing well here. Go to Seven New Cristo Rey Schools Opening This Fall; Brings Total to 19 to find out more.

The Brown Pelican has a link to a very interesting article here called Catholics Teach Natural Family Planning Methods to Muslims. Lat he has a post called TODAY'S GOSPEL & MEDITATION - The Secret of Growing Closer to God. That is for Saturdays Mass readings and this post SAINT OF THE DAY - SAINT LOUIS OF FRANCE .
