Baseball- LSU Beats Tulane and Preview of Louisiana Tech Vs Nevada

LSU In their Throwback Uniforms(more Pics of players in these cool threads here)

Well Let us start out with LSU. THEY WON!!! 7 to 5.
I give a great Maudy Thursday Alleluia to that. Having a losing streak that was started in full force by Southeastern last week and then to have had it continued by Tulane would be quite a downer. The Advocate's Carl Dubois baseball blog has all the action from last night of course with tons of color. He has a ton of posts through out the night but here are last two 10:45 p.m. -- Postgame reaction and 11 p.m. -- More from the Box. Out of the 10:45 pm entry something interesting:

Don't throw away the throwbacks
LSU won with its 1930s-style uniforms. Baseball being a sport of superstitious participants, will the Tigers used them again?
"You might see these uniforms again," Mainieri said. "The players are really politicking for it. They're really comfortable."
The uniforms had the look of the old wool uniforms worn decades ago, but they are made of a lighter, more breathable fabric. Of course, it was pretty chilly tonight.
"I've got to be honest with you," Mainieri said. "I'll give you a little secret: They're so thin and baggy, they keep you cool when it's hot, but when it's cold -- I had to go slip some long-john underwear on because I was freezing."

Nice, like I said earlier today they look sweet.

The Advocate has Tigers rally for victory over Wave .LSUSports net has a nice piece Five-Run Sixth Ends Baseball's Five-Game Slide. For a more Tulame oriented article here is the green people point of view at Baseball Falls Victim To Big Inning In 7-5 Loss At LSU. The Shreveport Times has LSU ends five-game slide win win over Tulane.
LSU will play its first SEC home series of the season this weekend when the Tigers face Arkansas. Friday's game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday's contest will begin at 3 p.m. and Sunday's game will begin at 1 p.m.

On to Louisiana Tech. I am very excited we are opening up conference play in Nevada tonight. If you wish to see how the WAC teams are doing so far as to standings go here. The Wolfpack are 8 and 8 going into tonight. Who they played and the results can be found here. If you note we share one common opponent so far. That was UT Arlington. Both Tech and Nevada won against them.

The Nevada site has a story/preview up Nevada Begins WAC Play Hosting Louisiana Tech Starting Thursday At 6:00 p.m. I am typing this in the wee hours so the Nevada papers have not their story for the game yet or at least it is not online yet. However check here for it. No doubt it will be up by morning time.

The Monroe News Star World has their game day article here at Louisiana Tech opens WAC baseball play. There is a nice write up here also at Bulldogs Open Conference Play at Nevada

Fans in northern Louisiana can catch all four games on ESPN 97.7 FM.. Bulldog fans outside the listening area can log on to www.espn977.com for a live audio stream. The game starts tonight at 8 pm Central.
