From Burke to Kirk and Beyond... is always a good blog to check out everyday. He is teaching a part of a RCIA class. In my experince RCIA classes run from great to horrid and not much in between. It appears his is Great.
Anyway he is asking for suggestions from fellow Catholic bloggers. He writes:
I am planning a lesson for RCIA on Church History. One approach would be to discuss the great Church councils and tie them into saints. My approach is to discuss twenty saints over twenty centuries and explicate the themes of Church history and doctrine they lived out. Here is my list:..............I am not ranking saints here, and a politically correct list is not the goal. If my audience were more, say German or Korean, I'd adjust the list accordingly. I want especially to discuss the Marian Church and the Petrine Church as two parts of the whole. I want to discuss the development as well as the continuity of doctrine. Comments are welcome.
I think that is a great idea. If I was not so burnt out today I would like to offer him some suggestions. I never thought of teaching Church History like that. Anyway go to 20 saints over 20 centuries and view his list and give your thoughts.

Definitely a marvelous idea...I've been doing saints with the middle school group, along with teaching them a bit of Church Latin with each meeting.
There is such a rich history in the Church, it's a shame how little has been passed on of late...
