An American Catholic Convert Priest Explains U.S. Catholics and Benedicts Trip to the British.

Father Longenecker is an interesting bird. He was raised a evangelical in the American South, attended College at the slightly anti Catholic Bob Jones University, moved to England for 25 years, converted to Anglicanism, became a priest, got married ,got kids, then came home to the Catholic Faith and is now a Catholic Priest in South Carolina.

Oh and he blogs at Standing on My Head . He also has a insight as well as sense of humor I enjoy.

Anyway he was asked to write a piece for the London Times explaining the American Catholic Church and the importance of the Pope's visit to all the UK folks. The title of his piece is American Catholics must stop and listen to the Pope I think it is a very well done article that sums up things nicely. It is a helpful insight from someone that because of his past can see aspects of the Pope's Visit and what makes us tick that one might not find elsewhere.. I very much wish it would be reprinted in a major US paper.

Go to Longenecker in London to read it :)
