A Blogger Points Out An Possible Error We are Making In Iraq

From Burke to Kirk and Beyond... has an interesting post up. I really wanted to point out this one he did Do the Iraqis need M-16 rifles? I was a toddler when Vietnam was ending but this sounds like one of those "same mistakes". I think I am like a lot of Americans my age in what we were taught about Vietnam. That is we left and the country fell. Not so fast. The infuriating thing was that the collapse of South Vietnam after we withdrew did not have to happen. In fact the country was defending itself quite well. It was horrific choices to cut off funding for the Govt that caused the collapse. However one history channel segment stuck with me. One major problem was that we were supplying the South Vietnam Govt and training them on purely American weapons and equipment. Even though long tern that made no sense. It seems very similar to this situation.

Your views on Viet Nam are accurate. The cut-off of aid to the South Vietnamese government is what crushed them.

BULLETIN: THIS WEEK'S NEWSWEEK FEATURES GOV. SARAH PALIN IN ITS FEATURE STORY. YOU CAN FIND IT ONLINE AT: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21162322/site/newsweek/#storyContinued
(Tomorrow, I'll reprint the large chunk of the story about Sarah.) Is she vice-presidential material? Yes. Is she presidential material? Sooner than most people imagined.
