Louisiana Catholic Blogger Update For Oct 20th

Jacques Phillipe Villere (Second Governor of Louisiana-First Catholic Governor of Louisiana and perhaps the United States)
Since it is election day I thought I would put a "Election day" themed picture up. GOvernor Villere was the second Governor of the State of Louisiana 1816-1820. He was a creole and a Catholic. I am still researching this but I think there is a good bet he was the first Catholic Governor in the United States. The only state that could have had one before this time was possibily Maryland. However I have not found one yet. He has a very interesting life and here is some more info on him.

It is a Short Louisiana Catholic Blogger update today. That is too be expected since it is Saturday and yeah we have a major election today.

From The Recamier has her post from the road up. She talks about our Saints we honored yesterday Saint Isaac Jogues, priest and martyr (died 1646), Saint John de Brebeuf, priest and martyr (died 1649), and companions, martyrs (the North American Martyrs). She got to see the house of Thomas Jefferson she relates to us . As usual she has a ton of good facts to know on her post.
Looking at the Birds and Considering the Lilies brings us some a very interesting observation. That is Protestants in his areas are starting to do Saturday Vigil type services.. See his post Vigils for more.

Alive and Young has two good posst. Check out this funny t-shirt at Delawareness . Also check out Two People Playing
