Louisiana Catholic Blogger Update for April 12th 2008

Pelican in her Piety
A tattoo that even a Catholic Louisiana Mother would Love to see on her boy
Enough Louisiana Catholic Bloggers have updated to do a Saturday post. Look for the next LA Catholic Blogger update edition to be on Monday. Saturday and Sundays are sometimes light days for Louisiana Catholic Blogger update. Unlike me that will be listening and keeping track of the Louisiana Tech Football Spring Game and hopefully LSU beating Ole Myth, most Louisiana Catholic Bloggers no doubt are preparing themselves for Sunday Mass, visiting prisons, and doing various Catholic Corporal Works (or Acts) of Mercy. But before they did such great work a few updated since yesterday.

First our Lafayette based Mission folks Anthony , Holly, and Elijah in Missions that are in Grenada have updated with a great post here are Recovery . Yes there is a baby picture

Catholic Tube - Catholic Videos and News has a cute short nice Virgin mary vid here at I’m Loving Her

From The Recamier has her daily update here from last night. She starts off with a nice bio of the Saint we honored yesterday Saint Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr (died 1079). In case you were wondering I don't think Louisiana has a huge population of Polish people. Though just a hope , skip ,and a short jump away from Louisiana is a huge Catholic school in Southern Mississippi that has them as their patron. Why I am not sure because Southern Mississippi does not have tons of Poles either. My first encounter with Polish people was Meathead on Archie Bunker. Anyway he is a Saint for all the lowly Italians, Irish and assorted folks too. She also has, ampong other things, a nice bio on Kurt Vonnegut Jr who died on yesterday's date.

Cajun Cottage Under the Oaks has Loveliness Springs

Vox Feminae has an anniversary. Happy Anniversary!! She is doing great work with bringing Sacred Music to us Catholics in the Diocese of Shreveport. Go see Schola Anniversary . Also see her post WYD Vestments Need Explicitly Christian Symbols which is very interesting

Ville Platte Catholic Youth Group has a good post at What religion is Superman? This is so fun. What Religion is your Comic Book hero? Did you know that Batman is possibly a lapsed Episcopalian (on his dad’s side), and a lapsed Catholic, too (on his mom’s side)? Do you know the Catholic Superheros? Go to the link to find out more

The Brown Pelican Society again has a ton of links relating to the reading of the day, the Saint of the Day and ton of Catholic and Political news we need to know. Go check his post out for the day.

I think the Latin from the Pelican verse is from Adoro te, Devote... it is a wonderful chant hymn.

Factoid: There is a wonderful relief of a pelican on front base of the altar in the St. John Berchmans Cathedral...
