A Defense of Celibacy for Catholic Priests (Father Cutie)

I do not find this Florida Priest to be such a hero as some. It seems to never occur to anyone that if a Priest wishes to leave the Priesthood there are proper procedures for this.

Out of the wood works when this issue comes are a combination of anti Catholics and people that wish to see all this sex teaching stuff go away.

The anti Catholics (both religious and non) are the most annoying. I often read to the biggest nonsense. Such as

The reason Priests abuse children is they are not married. If they were married and could express their natural sexual desires they would not abuse children.

Are people on crack when they write stuff like that.

The other Favorite for abolishing this tradition of the Christian ages is:

I think Priest should be married. I don't feel like I can go a Priest for marriage advice.

Now of course it is not noted that the Catholic Church has beaucoup programs for married folks often run by married lay people. It is not noted we have a whole heck of a lot of married Deacons also involved. It is further not noted that when we look at Divorcee stats and Christians it does not appear that married Clergy are going gangbusters over there as to preventing marriage problems

Catholics it seems as to celibacy often seen relaxing this requirement as some magic bullet partly because of misconceptions they have that the grass is greener on the other side.

Father Joe at in DC. has had enough. At his blog Father Joe he combats a lot of this nonsense.

A priest who leaves the priesthood for his own selfish purposes is a traitor. The reason priests abuse children is NOT because they are not married. Have you read of Lily Chua's case? In this case which which happened in 1993, a pastor turned music teacher murdered his lover (Lily Chua) and chopped up her body into 11 parts before he dumped her body parts into a drain. He thought that by destroying her body no one would discover his extra-marital affair. The pastor is married but this did not deter him from getting involved with another woman. Prostitutes are doing good business nowadays because the married men feel that having sex with their wives alone isn't enough. They need more sex. Can marriage deter a man from getting involved in sexual scandals? Definitely NOT!
