President Bush's Success In Iraq Going Unnoticed?

It is of course not just Bush's success. It is people like McCain and Joe Lieberman that made Bush realize we needed a change in tactics. It is the American troops our partners and yes the Countless brave Iraqis that for some reason the press and blogs never saw as our allies. It was in the end the Iraqi people who stood firm despite going through a living hell. But Bush and other kept the faith and when history is written will he be given credit

No matter what you think on Iraq this is sort of breathtaking. Perhaps we are not hearing about it because news agencies under budget cuts have left Iraq and not reporting this. Still we are looking at early glimpses of what has occurred this must be considered . See Wheat and Weeds post Bush A Hero, No One Notices

Will Obama keep this up and this promising jewel in the Middle East. Well looking at his appointments I think he might

I don't think our current success in Iraq is going unnoticed. Things are going much better. I think all admit that.

I don't think very many people are jumping up and down wanting to high-five President Bush over the situation for some good reasons.

One: He tried to do post invasion on the cheap with too few troops, because he naively believed the Iraqi people would automatically adopt some sort of Western democracy. That was foolhardy and many of young Americans died because of his foolish belief.

Two: We never had a valid reason to invade Iraq. Preemptive war is what the Japanese did at Pearl Harbor. Saddam did give us a reason to attack him when he invaded Kuwait. We did not have a valid reason for our last invasion.

Three: Afghanistan is the war that we should have been fully involved in, but that has been left to simmer because we got our army bogged down in Iraq.

I am glad that things are improving in Iraq. I am pleased that Bush FINALLY listened to sound advise about Iraq, but that does not make the president a hero.

I am very proud of our men and women in uniform. I think they and their families are true heros, not president Bush.

I pray daily for our President ond our military. I now have a son (serving in the Navy) in the Middle East war zone.

Bush does deserve credit for not pulling out of Iraq when things were going poorly, but they were going poorly because he was making poor decisions.

That is my view on the issue.
