Maybe they should go farther back and find an heir of King Harold, the last Saxon king, who was killed by the Normand invaders. Harold died at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
Of course James II daughter, Mary became queen after James (who was a foolish king) was defeated by her husband, William of Orange.
The Stuarts were Scots to start with, and not English, but inheriting a crown is often a tangled mess.
Why even bother over a monarch that is merely a figurehead anyway.
I would like to see the Scots break from England, then the Bavarian duke can take his place on a thrown in Scotland.
Then the Scots can have their own Oktoberfest with single malt Scotch!! Kenith
I get still confused with the history of England at time. I was always pretty good in WOrld HIstory but the different lines and struggles in England I get all jumbled up
