America is sort of what is called a more ""progressive" Catholic publication but that did not stop them from holding the gay rights leadership to the fire at least on their blog.. See The Selection of Rick Warren. .
I agree with much of what they say in this post including that Obama is a very deft politico.
This part is sort funny:
The gay marriage movement was misguided from the start. Part of playing politics is calculating the reaction to one’s position and the consequences that flow therefrom. But, Andrew Sullivan decided he wanted to be a bride and – voila – an issue was born. Sullivan has always had a tin ear for American politics so perhaps he can be forgiven for failing to anticipate how and why attacking a central totem of the culture would provoke a backlash. As a result of the push for gay marriage, more than thirty states now have constitutional amendments banning gay marriage and civil unions but Sullivan and his partner were able to exchange vows in Provincetown.
I do wonder though if all us on theleft and right give too much attention to Andrew Sullivan at times. Besides the internet polticial junkies is anyone paying much attention to him.

They say that like it's a bad thing.
That is true not sure if they are disappointed or not.
Plus I think they are being a tad sloppy as to to what the Church teaches on Civil Unions
