Why Do People Hate Pope Benedict

And seem to hate with such a passion to boot. I think this First Things article hits the nail on the head. I think that article applies to much more than Germany.

I don't think that the Pope is generally disliked, but suffers a bit from apathy I believe. He is seldom quoted in our local Catholic paper or by the local priest. I don't think people listen to him or seek his writings but they are actually very spiritual and good such as his book on "Jesus Christ: Baptism Through the Transfiguration."
