The Connection Between Bad Catholic Music and Bad Christmas Cards

Well I am not saying one caused the other of course. Needless to say people of all faiths and no faith do this and I doubt hearing Bad Post Vatican II Catholic Music caused it.

Yet the Anchoress made a interesting observation couple of days ago at More Virgin Mary, Less Virgin Islands

After putting up the observations of a Priest that perhaps the annual photo of the Family should be inside the card and not the CARD itself the Anchoress notes:

I love it. You’ll want to read the whole thing and consider that putting ourselves to the fore in our Christmas cards is of a piece with putting ourselves to the fore in our hymns and prayers. Catholic hymns written from the 1980’s on are incredibly “us”, “we” and “I” centered. Here’s an example: .....

Read her post to see a living example in "Catholic" song. As she points out if things surrounding our Liturgy are so self obsessed well I guess that goes over to Christmas Cards.

Don't get me wrong I love the annual photo and don't want that stop. Just inside the card!!
