Actor Will Smith, The Angelus, and the Muslim Call to Prayer

Creative Minority Report had a interesting post on some of Will Smiths recent comments at Actor Calls Jesus "Lord and Savior"

This part at the end struck me

“I was in India recently, and my hotel was near the Taj Mahal. Five times a day there would be a call for prayer, and it was the most beautiful thing,” the “Seven Pounds” star recounted. Smith found a way to relate his experience abroad to his own Baptist upbringing.

“I was lying in my bed thinking, no matter what your religion is, it would be great to have that reminder five times a day to remember your Lord and savior,” he said. Smith is “at home and not fearful” when at a mosque, synagogue, temple or the Church of Scientology, explaining that he likes “anywhere people are searching for the truth.” “I respect their path and I'm intrigued by their path,” he shared.

It of course still occurs in many places

That is what those folks are doing the above famous painting. One of the whole purposes of bells and good timepieces that were booming all over the place was also that the Monks and Priests and Religious and others could say the Liturgy of the Hours throughout the day.

I suppose to this nowadays in many placeswould cause a complaint from the City Nuisance Board.

James,

This was a great post.

I really wish that some Catholic close to Will Smith could point this out to him.

Last night I heard a quote from Will Smith about marriage. He has been divorced and remarried. But he said that he now understands that marriage is FOR LIFE.

He said that once you start thinking that divorce is an option that marriage is over.

Some Catholic really needs to get close to him and give him some of the directions he needs for the "path" that he's on.

The beautiful thing about the Islamic Call for Prayer is that it mainly consists of praises to God & reminding people of the greatness of this prayer & how everything good lies in their connection with their creator & so calling ppl (who r able to)to gather in the mosque to perform this prayer in a big group, All chanted in a very beautiful voice of the (muáthen) or Prayer Caller...all this is in the THE CALL ONLY!!! not to mention the beauty of their prayer.

I agree with him. It doesn't matter who ur lord is , being able to be reminded of him 5 times a day is amazing. And sometimes the sound of the bell can't be heard whereas a melodic voice can be and it has a nice meaning

Beauty of prayer five times a day is that you have an opportunity to connect with God Almighty five times a day. You can ask for what you want and need. You can ask for forgiveness. You can appreciate for what you have. Imagine meeting God Almighty five times a day round the year all your life. Amazing. The bottom line is that we can not appreciate God Almighty enough for countless bounties.

Sorry but if Gd is in your heart you don't need some yell by loudspeaker to pray! This is mohammedan crap. And there are NO HOTELS or MOSQUES near Taj Mahal and I also bet Will has NEVER been to India - Nonsense

No offense. But the human mind always deviates to different thoughts. It is good that there is a reminder that there is a powerful almighty who created us. And it does not depend on relogion. I am from India and i wake up hearing the prayer call from the nearest mosque and the morning prayer from the nearest temple. Well it reminds the people of the God in the starting of the day itself.

And the 5 times call is set at times that are strategic. Before sunrise, when you are going through the deepest slumber, you get the 1st call. At around 12 noon when you are at the busiest moments of your business, you get 2nd call. When you are tied up to finish-off your business before going home in the evening, all tired with the day's work, you get 3rd call. You have just set foot home. You want to relax with your wife and kids. You get 4th call. You are finished with the day and retiring to the bed, you get 5th call.

Just to see how deeply you are in love with your Lord and how much you are prepared to obey Him.

Sir you have to know first that Muslims pay five time a day in specific times and as you need someone or something to remind you for your meeting for example and so does the prayer calls. You comment was crap
