The Deacon Bench has a nice story and link to a Trappist Nun that died recently in her Abbey. See The nun's story
It is woth going to the link and reading the whole think. Individual dates in this interent abby journal appear cannot be linked but go to the 23 December 2008 entry.
Her life is not only interesting but how the nuns handled her final months as well as aspect of how death is handled in a monestary is interesting. Little tidbits like this show the even at Abbys that the outside world comes into play
We had planned for this moment. Everyone had her assigned task, and did it. Fr Bernard was called from the kitchen, where he was preparing dinner. The sisters all came in. Fire Department medics were called to certify the death, for which we had the famous Orange Paper precluding resuscitation. They had to call a deputy sheriff (to make sure we hadn’t murdered her). They were all so kind and apologetic, but a home death has its share of red tape.

Thanks for putting this out there. I've been to Santa Rita Monastery and met Jean. Many of us have kept vigil for her with the sisters via their monthly journal entry. I stand in awe at the Trappistine life and am grateful to them for reminding me to attend to my contemplative instincts
