Man Charged With Felony After Playing Arabic Chant at Jewish Wedding ( Was He Overcharged? )

MCJ has the story here at AND NOW…IDIOTS.

I read the comments and I guess I might be alone in asking while this is very bad conduct if a person should be charged with a FELONY for this. That seems a tad overblown. Now police departments have a habit of "over charging" and then the DA has to reduce it down to something reasonable.

For instance Police Officers in Louisiana are legend at times for charging Public Intimidation of a Public Official if a person they are arresting say something like " I will have your job for this!!!"

DA's then do something reasonable like reduce it to Disturbing the Peace.

Still while I don't want people to be disturbing the peace of Weddings this seems to be getting very close to hate crime legislation which of course can come back and bite Christians on the butt. Especially now since it appears if you are against gay marriage then you are a hateful homophobe.

It is a close call and the fact that this occured in a Jewish Center is at play. For instance if this was a hotel and was a recpetion would he have been charged with a Felony. I do understand both sides here and of course the Catholic Church has their share of idiots that intrude. Think the Act Up people
