Joe Biden Declares Himself the Best VP EVER!!!

How did I miss that!! Wow I wonder if Biden is going to be kept under lock and key for the next 4 years.

Mickey Kaus over at Slate says:

I know as much or more than Cheney." Mr. Biden said. "I’m the most experienced vice president since anybody.” Wow. a) Biden has no private sector experience after age 30, right? b) How insecure is this guy? Getting close to dangerously insecure, no? ... And here we we'd just succeeded in explaining away the "I have a much higher IQ than you do" aria of credentialist braggadocio. ... 9:45 P.M.

Perhaps

NRO just gets started when showing how silly this statement is:

"I'm the most experienced vice president since anybody" [Rick Brookhiser]
John Adams? Thomas Jefferson? George Clinton? (21 years as governor of New York, general of militia in the Revolutionary War).

Mr. Biden said. "I’m the most experienced vice president since anybody.” Wow.

I gasped too, then I realised that such a claim could be true if we count blowhard Joe "Plugs" Biden as the first and so far only Vice President of the second of Sen. Edwards' "two Americas."

Meanwhile, back in the original America where the rest of us live, our first Vice-President, John Adams, had more and better legislative, constitutional law and even foreign policy experience than Biden The Braggart.

By the way, when will Biden's bishop step forward to publicly instruct the lost sheepling and quash the ongoing scandal to the Church caused by the public behavior and pronounciamentos of wannabee catechist Plugs Biden? The silence of the bishops signals to one and all that the Cafeteria Catholicism has been raised to the status of official Church practice.

Hmmm...I'll have to go with Joe Biden on this one. Great to have him as VP. Certainly will outshine Cheney without breaking a sweat. Huge amount of experience, integrity, intelligence, and outstanding reputation with Senators (that's saying a lot). Good to have you Joe...oh, btw, in case you are wondering, yes, I fully understand in what vein Biden made his comment. Most intelligent individuals do.

Anonymous,

I'm afraid that I must not rise to your standard definition of intelligent; for I confess that I don't *at all* know in "what vein Biden made his comment".

The actual paragraph from the NYT article says this: "He said he would bring more to the job than any of his predecessors, except possibly Lyndon B. Johnson. “I know as much or more than Cheney,” Mr. Biden said. “I’m the most experienced vice president since anybody.”

Not only isn't Mr. Biden more experienced than "anybody"; but, his own sense of history is sorely lacking - if he really thinks that LBJ is the model par excellence.

Joe Biden is certainly more qualified than most living Americans to be Vice-President. He may also be more qualified than many former Vice-Presidents.

However, to be the most experienced "since anybody" is beyond credible. Mr. Biden must think that with the dawning of the Obama Era, all previous history of this country simply disappears.

Mr. Brookhiser (of NRO) offers some excellent choices for Vice-Presidents who are more qualified than Mr. Biden; George Clinton, for example.

However, my personal pick for the "Most Experienced" Vice-President is Thomas Jefferson.

Mr. Jefferson, before becoming Vice-President, had a career as a lawyer; served in the Virginia House of Burgesses; served as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress;

(Here I'll interrupt the list, as I note that the 2nd Continental Congress, of course, issued the Declaration of Independence, which Mr. Jefferson wrote.)

served as a member of the new Virginia Legislature; served as Governor of Virginia; was Foreign Minister to France; and served as Secretary of State under Pres. Washington.

The only glaring ommission that I can see is a lack of military leadership.

So, Anonymous, can you please let me know in what way my intelligence is lacking? I'm obviously not even smart enough to know that I'm not smart.

Please, inform me. Or should I continue NOT taking anything Mr. Biden says seriously?
