Oh Happy Day- My Thoughts On LSU,. Les Miles, and This Past Weekend

Reaction of LSU players and Coaches Last night when Georgia was announced to be Hawaii Opponent in Sugar Bowl thus Putting LSU in the National Championship game with Ohio State.

First a little Celebration for what must be Divine Intervention by the Blessed Mother.Trust Me Les Miles , LSU , SEC game were all parts of my Rosary intentions on Saturday morning. I was praying hard at Mass on Saturday. The PITT UPSET of WV IS EVIDENCE. Call the Vatican a true miracle. People think it silly to think that God cares about football and silly things like this. Football Players are often very religious. They will tell you that can feel it on the field and things are "working" out that is Divine like.

So in prayerful celebration of these events and the LSU Faithful up there in Heaven praying for the Tigers. Here is a little Te Deum. Geaux Tigers!!!

Here are My Thoughts-
(1) Three Fourths of Baton Rouge People look silly-.
Over the past week I have heard so many absurd Coaching rumors from people " in the know" and that have "sources" . Things to remember.
First Baton Rouge just lives and breathes LSU football.
Second it is a political town.
Third LSU and University Politics make what is happening down the the street at the Capitol look like a well tamed garden. All this combines into a perfect storm where people have to pretend to have information and be a "mover and shaker" Knowledge is power and having the scoop on "whats really going on" is perceived to be not only a status item but real power. Combine this with the Internet version of the child hood game of telephone and it becomes bizarre. Turns out what people were reading in the Advocate was true and was not spin.

(2) ESPN might have put LSU in the Championship Game by jumping the gun on Les to Michigan.

The above Press Conference in pretty awesome. It has a tad more footage that one did not see on the blurbs, Typical Les Miles. In that moment a lot of things happen. Les Miles bounded himself to the LSU Tigernation forever and they to him. I know grown men that teared up. Second the players saw that and were pumped. I have to admit my favorite part was LSU Skip Bertman AD just laughing afterwards. The Blogger Every Day Is Should Be Saturday ,who was there in the room, had a hilarious take on it.
The media’s busy parsing the hell out of Miles’ verbiage like he’s a diplomat making a speech at the WTO. They shouldn’t–Miles came out with the body posture of a wrestler addressing the crowd and said ESPN was full of sh*t. That’s it. Tightly wound, school-of-Woody-Hayes tempermental PR posturing, pure and simple. He could have been brained with a folding chair by Lloyd Carr in the middle of it and it wouldn’t have seemed out of place.
–Sean O’Keefe, chancellor of LSU, looks like a man who bathes in Domaine du Puys and craps solid bars of platinum. Being nicknamed “Pappy” or “Red” and owning several islands devoted solely to his pleasure would NOT surprise us
. :)

That press Conference was so classic that it kept LSU in the news and in the voters minds all day. I think that was critical. What voter would not want to reward that after a LSU win. Thank you Herbie and than you LES

By the way Les Miles Press Conference after the game was very good. He truly became a LSU man after both of these.

(3) Georgia Fans Quit Complaining and start preparing for Hawaii.
While LSU fans were upset and devouring their own after the Arkansas loss , Georgia media was preparing for the scenario that indeed happened on Saturday night. What was lost in all the local coverage last week was Les Miles remarks about the SEC Champ having the opportunity to play in the "most prestigious bowl" .Georgia fans and the media knew exactly what he was talking about. That is if LSU won we should jump Georgia that was slightly ahead of us and play in the NC game if the upsets happened and if we won the SEC game. Les Miles was setting his argument for it all week. The Atlanta papers were bashing him left and tight for it. Les Miles very smartly was laying the groundwork for his argument all week long. People ridiculed him for it. Yet on Saturday night the national media was repeating it and giving it support

Note To Atlanta media. If you think the SEC game is now not really a big thing let me offer a suggestion. Lets move the SEC game out of Atlanta!!!! Trust me. SEC West schools, such as LSU, Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Arkansas would love to have that game closer to us. It is getting tiring of having that basically a local game for many of the SEC East schools and being outnumbered fan wise. It happens every year. I looked like a Tenn Home game on Saturday just like it looked like a Florida home game last year and Georgia Home game the year before!!! Georgia should have beaten South Carolina. If they had who knows? Perhaps they would be in the NC game if they had beaten us. We all play by the same rules down here.

Hawaii Win-
Great for Louisiana Tech and great for College Football. Louisiana Tech will get a great payout for that game because the revenue will be shared. Recruiting wise it will be for TECH to have a major WAC school there in Louisiana. Georgia fans are currently thinking Hawaii is beneath them. They are not. They are much more dangerous than Boise State was last year.

Ohio St-
More on them later. This will not be a repeat of last year when they got trounced by Florida. We better hope we heal up fast. If we do I think we win. If we don't then we are in trouble. We looked like a Mash unit out there Saturday night. We are mor einjured that was ever let on!!!
