I am much more on the political side fence of the Independent Conservative Hoffman in this race. However I have been quite vocal I was not likeing what was going down int this race.
Will there be long term consequences? Well we shall see. My main problem were with some elected GOP officials and affiliated pundits and organizations that endorsed Hoffman and were trashing the GOP nominee is if this is going to be a precedent
What make this race a tad different was this nominee was not elected in some sort of party primary but appointed to run by local Party Chairmen. If this same scenario occurs again in a regular type of election where GOP voters show up then it will become a major problem!!! In fact that would be a disaster . I hate to think of the civil war and future losses that will occur on all sides of the political spectrum in the GOP. We do not want National GOP figures vetoing the choice of local GOP voters!!
I think a lot of conservative organizations will be declaring victory today and indeed it was. But if as a part of this they do not help more conservative people to gain positions of influence in the New York GOP all this has been for nothing. You might have cured the Fever but you have not cured the tumor.

You raise an excellent point re outside influence in a local GOP matter. But Scozzafava was ridiculous - and at some point the local GOP twits need to be challenged? I could be wrong.
I lived in New York for 9 years while getting my degrees. The GOP party in that state is "decrepit and feckless" to quote National Review. Too often the GOP candidate (governor or for our very liberal district - a town much like Seattle in its ethos) was an idiot with no reasonable chance of being elected. And for whom one would not want to vote.
So I was registered with Conservative party there - because Republicans in New York were often liberal and Democrats were to the left of Stalin.
Since moving to Louisiana I have actually voted for some Democrats. Because down here Democrats are often moderate and some Republicans are to the right of... still working on a good comparison.
Thansk Rick and you have a point too. The one thing that makes this so or easier to swallow is how her nomination came down which seems very backroom
