Pope Benedict Shows Supports for Archbishop of Canterbury but ........

I posted during the Papal trip that I thought Pope Benedict was speaking in a veiled way directly to the American Episcopal Church in some of his comments of warning. This occurred when he met with all the other American Religious leaders. Go see for more The Pope's Blunt Talk to American Non Catholic Leaders

Pope Benedict as well as John Paul the II are very concerned about the state of Anglicanism. That concern in the past has made the Vatican take some bold controversial moves you will not see with any other "Protestant" Christian Community.

Yesterday the Pope met with the Archbishop of Canterbury in a private meeting. The Guardian that the Vatican is sending the heavy guns to Lambath (Including a Cardinal that is one of those "Could be Pope one day" Cardinals" which is where the Anglican Bishops meet each ten years. This Guardian article explains why this a deliberate move on the part of the Vatican to show support for the Archbishop of Canterbury in an effort to keep the Anglican Communion together. Go see the UK Guardian's Vatican lends hand to Williams in battle to shore up Anglican unity

However while showing this support the Church is working on another front. GO see this fascinating article that just came out that can be seen at Father Z's place Card. Kasper to Anglicans: Are you Protestants or Catholics? Time to decide!

I will try to watch what Anglican blogs are saying as to this today and update later
