What the Holy See Envoy to the United States Said to Bishop Duca of Shreveport

Whispers in the Loggia has a good piece up called What Makes a Bishop? This past Monday I found the words of Archbishop Pietro Sambi perhaps the most stirring of the entire Liturgy.

In fact Rocco hits on what several priests told me that day they were thrilled about. That is we had a Pastoral Bishop. You need both a person that have an administrative knack and a Pastoral knack. I would propose that we have seen the damage that can occur when one is lacking in either/or of those areas.

Still what he told Bishop Duca is what he has been telling other men that have become Bishops this year. It gives us insight on what the Vatican is looking for
