Mel Gibson's Wife Files For Divorce- The Christian Haters Come Out

Mel Gibson wife filed before Good Friday for Divorce from Mel Gibson. They were married for 28 years. Many people are focused on the Divorce settlement where the soon to be former Mrs Gibson will take HALF which means almost a half a billion dollars. It appears they have been apart from over two years if not more.

Of course we shall again have the "religion" question thrown around. That is what exactly is Mel Gibson. Many reporters will just say Roman Catholic. I think that is up to debate of course. Mel Gibson is known to have funded with well over a hundred million of dollars a private "Chapel" called the Church of the Holy Family in Malibu. From reports this Chapel is filled with quite a bunch of fringe Sedevacantists .

Now Gibson has always seemed to be quite coy on if he believes in this wacko belief that the See is Vacant and there is no Pope . He has made statements that seems to indicate he does not.

However I got to believe when you fund a chapel to a tune of a hundred million dollars that believes in this craziness and that is not in the Union with the Church there is a problem. Call me traditional but being Catholic means being in communion with the Bishop. However this is Cardinal Mahony land and for various reasons I suppose there has never been an official sanction against Gibson (that I am aware of). For more on this see Is Mel Gibson a Sedevacantist? Sedevacantism verses Sedeprivationism.

Needless to say I find calling him a "Roman Catholic" problematic.

But the real horror is watching the vile in the comment sections. See for example this Huffington post and the 12 pages of just the most horrible comments. This is repeated all over the place on the net and blogs.

Mel Gibson no doubt is a complex man but the hate is just telling. Also there is a lot of ignorance spouted. I am amazed at how so many people "Know" what is going on in the Gibson family or "know he fell off the wagon" etc etc. It is also a very much a hate fest against Christians and conservatives.

Why Mel Gibson is getting all this is something to ponder.. He on the whole besides making a few comments over the years does not seem to be in the forefront of any domestic political movements. In other words he is not the typical political celeb. In fact he seems to have the typical politics that one finds in these "Catholic" fringe groups that cannot be easily put into a American political box of conservative and liberal.

But those that hate Christians are at in force and there shall be no mercy. This again shows the occasion of sin the net can be. Just because your hiding behind a screen name does not make such hateful glee alright or to be given an exemption.

It seems to me that almost all comment sections on any site are terrible. Check the comments posted on local newspaper sites on almost any topic. When people do not have to identify themselves, the nonsense that spills out is unchecked. This is true of writers from all parts of the religious, political, and any other spectrum you can think of.

the possibility that Mel Gibson and his wife might get a divorce is a major letdown for me
