What Are the Responsibilities of a Catholic University (Notre Dame/Obama Controversy Continued)

I cannot recommend enough reading the speech by Bill McGurn given last night at Notre Dame and the latest statement by the Bishop of Notre Dame. Pro- Ecclesia has it at Two Statements on What it Means to be a Catholic University

Further it is strange to me that after the Pope spent so much effort to come the USA last year that many seems to have forgotten he thought for some earthly reason to speak on this topic in his limited time here.
