Not in reality but in the reality of blog land. Right now we can experience that through Prez4Life-A Prolife Progressive’s (Fictional) Run for President.
Tip of the hat to Thomas Berg at Mirror of Justice that led me to this. The story has just started and it appears this shall be following a real life schedule. The person running for President has not said he or she is Catholic but yet but it is sort of implied. Like his mom naming him after St Thomas More.
I think it is well done and has some humor. I think it will also raise some good issues. So I think I shall follow it. People forget but Pro-life liberals were common at one time. Congresswoman Lindy Boggs was of course one of the biggies.
I think this site will be fun and instructive and I might offer comments on the exciting race to the White House.

Campaign Watch
The ink was barely dry on Sen. Thomas Lincoln’s filing papers when commercials supporting him started to appear in the most disparate of places. The Lincoln for President committee was formed officially last Friday, a few days after he announced his candidacy. By that time, reports were surfacing that ads featuring excerpts from his announcement speech had begun to air. They seem to have been purchased on small, independent TV stations in several states. According to a Lincoln spokesman, the ads have no connection to the campaign.
“We’re, frankly, a little baffled by all of this,” said Kevin Rich, Lincoln’s media coordinator, who was with the candidate in Kansas. “We’re nowhere near ready to run ads anywhere, either financially or technologically. To my knowledge, no one involved with the campaign–and right now there are only a few of us–has seen any of the ads. We understand it includes his speech, but we don’t know where the video came from.”
Rich said the campaign will investigate, but acknowledged, “Right now, we have other things on our minds. And we’re not exactly unhappy if Tom Lincoln has enough support that people are running their own TV ads in his support.”
The Federal Election Commission has not commented on the ads or whether an election law violation may have occurred.
Well it is nice that is happening. Even though one wonders about Senator Brownback who of course dropped out way before "Senator Lincoln" entered
Senator Brownback a few months back was looking for any support from Catholics, or Pro-lifers, or, athiest, or anyone. He was even lauded by Boston, Cardinal Sean O'Malley. The Cardinal said back in October that "There is no other presidential candidate in the U.S. today that more reflects Catholic social doctrine as you do."
Senator Brownback , though a Republican, was anti- State execution, was for immigration reform, and did very un republican like things like spending the night at Angola Prison while he had political events in Louisiana. Sadly no one was running ads for him and even more sadly his run for the White House was met with a big yawn by the Catholic press and progressives and liberals, and conservatives , and pro-lifers, etc.
Now Senator Brownback did have lets say a charisma problem. I mean he is from Kansas so what would you expect :). So needless to say there were no commericals for him at all.
However perhaps Senator Lincoln has learned from Brownback's mistakes a few months earlier. On a related note could there be a future Fusion Ticket?. A Lincoln/Brownback ticket to bring the Catholic and Evangelicals Conservatives and Liberals together. Well that perhaps is months off. Stay tuned.
