Chaldean Catholic Church Bishop and Aides Kidnapped

Prayers up for them that they might be returned safely. The BBC has to the story. I am going to be talking about Iraq more and the Catholic response to it. Especially as to Iraq and this coming election and the Catholic voter.

The persecution of Iraqi Christians in this area has been horrific. I expect that this area will continue to be a focus of Iraqi and US troops to weed out the evil as others areas are becoming stable.

First of all, I pray for the Bishop's safety and the safety of my co-religionists. However, as Catholics, we have an obligation to protect all Iraqis, not just Catholics. To be sure, Catholics are experiencing persecution. However, Catholics have had it rather easy compared to Kurds and Shi'ites and Catholics both inside Iraq and outside Iraq have failed to promote the safety of other minorities. Thus we cannot blame them for turning on us Catholics. To be sure, we should not promote Islam, but we need to promote the safety of innocent Muslim women and children.

While, many of our Catholic leaders have failed to promote safety of innocent Muslim women and children not just in Iraq, but several other countries, at least our current POPE appears to defend the rights and safety of innocent Muslim women and children while at the same time, our POPE is promoting our Catholic faith in the Middle East. Hopefully, our new POPE can continue to overcome our recent shameful history and restore pride in our Catholic faith.

I totally agree with you. I just bring up the Christian situation because it seems that we are having a hard time giving them protection and their are numbers are not big to begin with

I totally agree with you as to the Kurds
