The Lake Charles Latin Mass Society in their post Cardinal Newman reports:
just wanted to let anyone who’s interested know that McNeese is hosting some pretty cool lectures on one famous Catholic of the nineteenth century: Cardinal Newman.
All lectures are free and open to the public.
Tonight at 7:30 PM, Fr. John Ford, C.S.C., of the Catholic University of America, will be lecturing on “Newman Then and Now” with a reception following.
Tomorrow, Saturday, at 10:30 AM will be coffee and snacks, followed by a lecture at 11:00 AM with Dr. Bernadette Waterman Ward of the University of Dallas, lecturing on “Religious Liberty in the University: Newman’s Oxford Novel and American Academia Today”.
At 7:00 PM you can see Dr. Frederick Aquino of Abilene Christian University, lecturing on “Exemplars and the Urge to Connect”.
And around 8:00 PM, there will be a roundtable discussion with the speakers being joined by special guests: Dr. Susan Nicassio of U.L.L., and Dr. Kevin L. Cope of L.S.U. with a reception following.
All of this takes place at the Burton Conference Center.
Sounds very interesting and exciting!!

I've lived in the Lafayette area pretty much my whole life except for twelve years (1990-2002) that I lived in Lake Charles. My wife and I didn't like LC at first but we grew to love it and we miss it very much and things like this are one of the reasons why. Lake Charles and McNeese have much to offer. I also miss my friend Cajun Huguenot.

You Know when I visited Lake Charles I always enjoyed. It is really good people and a very good mix and there was always stuff going on
