Louisiana Blogger Roundup for August 17th

First really keep Astonished yet at Home in your Prayers. In his post here it appears that his father does not have much time left I can't even imagine. I have yet to have a lot of family die except one grandmother. It is tought especially a parent. I can't even imagine.

I want to start off with a great post from Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message. If you read this blog you know I want to highlight Catholic American history. It seems that an side effect of our glorious English heritage(to which I love) is to downplay the Catholic side of America. On the other side we have this curious elements of Catholic bloggers and others that say America is foreign to the Catholic experience. Both should be fought.
Father Brown who is a New Orleans guy is currently in Texas. His post today not only talks about the feast day of a important Dominican in which we celebrate today. But really highlights again how that comes into play into our American history. Good stuff.

Thoughts & Ruminations from Fr. Ryan from the Diocese of ALexandria has a great post up. Look at his August 17th post that has some examples of wacky laws and a great picture from the Papal election of 2005.

Though not a blog , I note the Catholic Newspasper of the Diocese of Baton Rouge has updated. I shall give highlights later today

The Brown Pelican Society agains is providing a great service highlighting Catholic news and meditations we need to know about. Take note of the pro life homily that is highlighted. Also the link about the incredible trip the Vatican Secretary of State had in the USA last week. THe magnitude of what that I don't think has sunk in yet.

As I am going down the my links I get to Dei Gratia. He brings us this sad news that Bishop Grey , who was the past Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette has passed. May we keep him in our prayers. Also pray the that Diocese especially. The next few days might be tough because of the media.

I wanted to go back to a post he did on Canon Law yesterday. I mentioned yesterday that something was happening to St Patrick's day that was related to this. He informed me that the Vatican has moved it up next year so it does not conflict with Holy week

From The Recamier has a post about events of Aug 16th where she reminds us that we celebrate Saint Stephen of Hungary. I found this interesting because this neck of the woods where I live does not ahve a lot of immigrants or descendants of that came form this region. Therefore my knowledge of the history of the Catholic faith in that area is slim.

Footprints on the Fridge has a post up in her series to the 7 steps to a Charlotte Mason Lifestyle. These are the last two steps. They deal wit the importance of exposing children to art and music

That is it for the Louisiana roundup as to blog that have updated at around 10:45 am.
