Louisiana Secretary of State Kennedy Becomes Republican- Senator Landrieu might get a Challenger

Kennedy switches to Republican Party is the story in the Baton Rouge Business Report.

I am sure that Senator Landrieu who has an election next year is not happy with this news. Perhaps she should start coming out against anti Catholic Ads that are running in North Louisiana run by her own state party.

A important tidbit here. Since the 70s Louisiana has had a open primary system. That means everyone runs regardless of parties. If you get 50.1 percent you win. If no one gets 50.1 percent then the two top vote getter's regardless of party go to a runoff.

This law has been recently changed for Federal Elections only. That means we shall have closed Democrat and Republican primaries next year. Things just got a lot more interesting.

Kennedy is very popular in Louisiana Republican circles and this move has been in the making for a while
