Speaking of Baptists , See my Do Louisiana Liberal Democrats Hate Baptists? Shreveport Law School Related which is the post right below on a different topic .
A Baptist minister from Baton Rouge practically on the LSU campus had a very good post at his blog Live the Trinity. See Physical/spiritual actions and spiritual/physical salvation.
I think this is very thought provoking and gives another way to handle various topics in RCIA. RCIA is the class all converts to the Catholic Faith have to take.
I think it touches on the Catholic view of Sacraments, the Incarnation, and the physical acts of worship and receiving grace in it's various forms.
To see where I think I am correct on this see Armstrong's post Sacramentalism for a good understanding of the Catholic view .
I think Pastor Wright's observations would incorporate fine when we Catholics talk about these subjects.

I am (painfully?) aware of the incipient and latent sacramental theology lurking in those reflections. Since seminary days (before reading a lot of Anglican and now Orthodox theology) I have been a bit of a renegade among Baptists. Have *never* been satisfied with purely spiritual (mental?) understandings of baptism and Lord's Supper aka Communion. Not surprised you picked up on that.
What I liked about you psot was you picked up on a bit of scripture I was not aware of
Also I don;t think these ideas are so radical in sections of the Batpist faith especially in this emerging church movement
Yeah - 2 Kings 05 is one of my favorite texts. Have preached it many times, usually focusing on the issue of Naaman's foreign background. It was not until a couple weeks ago that I noticed the baptism / sacramental theology connection. Basically the guy takes a bath. Is made clean (in both senses?). And then professes commitment to Yhwh. Physical action, spiritual change.
