Do Louisiana Liberal Democrats Hate Baptists? Shreveport Law School Related

I often find this dynamic amazing. Is not the key in trying to get your party into power done by getting votes. A good way not to do that is to attack Louisiana College that is associated with the Louisiana Baptist Convention. In fact it is govern by the Louisiana Baptist Convention. I have heard rumors that even Baptists are Democrats. It is hard to imagine making more people upset if you tried.

The Daily Kingfish has You are inviting a Fox into your Hen House, Mayor Glover . This is in regards to Louisiana College opening a law school in Shreveport.

He starts out by making a rather unconvincing case that this will scare the entertainment industry and it will freak out gays and lesbians.

Then he says
The interesting thing is if we were talking about the teaching of Jesus; fighting for the poor, standing up to government when people are being oppressed, and doing good for mankind – I think I would be giving a HUGE applause to this college. But make no mistake – this “college” (which reports show will be unaccredited) is the training ground for the centurions that will be taking the lead in the culture wars that are currently going on in this country. Yes, this “college” will join the ranks of Regent University and Liberty University that are putting out the “legal minds” that have brought us such things as the outing of covert CIA Agent Valerie Plame, and the politicization of the entire Justice Department under George W Bush’s Presidency.

Now that is kind of interesting is it not. First while I don't know anyone from Liberty , I have met people that have attended Regent Law school. I was very impressed with their legal skills and believe it or not they are engaged in all sort of legal business. There is really no need to put those " " around legal. In fact the Catholic Governor of VA was a graduate of that school.

However what is disturbing is a Democrat advocate seems to think funding can be proper or improper as to religious viewpoint. WHOA!!

Further how does he not know that Law students will in the future not be engaging topics relating to social justice (Note Catholics See even these "culture war" ISSUES as a part of social justice) ". A Baptist does not have to be some hard core conservative that thinks the only thing the State should provide is a national defense. Just looking at the pages of Christianity Today or other publications would show you that. I know many a Baptist that are conservative on these social issues but in fact far more liberal than me on certain other issues.

Heck look at Mike Huckabee, (who is not a liberal) but who was President of the Arkansas Baptist Convention ,and yet has had a theme of social justice to the poor and those in need.

He says:
if this goes through the years of headaches that will follow will be debilitating – not to mention the slow eradication of the progress that has been made under Mayor Glover’s leadership.

So Orthodox Christians impede progress? That as a matter of public policy and for the supposed economic health of a city they should be discouraged.

Truly frightening. Also not a way to win hearts and minds either.

Update-I also suspect that a lot of Louisiana Democrats do not endorse this.
