Louisiana Catholic Blogger Roundup for August 19th

Since this is a Louisiana roundup, I am going to start with a fun Louisiana historical fact.

Today in history
On August 19th in 1812 A huge hurricane hit New Orleans leaving the city underwater and killing nearly 100 people. Also on this date in 1955, Archbishop Rummel declares Parochial schools will desegregate next school term .

We start out with with Catholic Tube. He has a musical video about indulgences.

From The Recamier has a major update. She tells us of the Saint we honored yesterday who was a religious by the name of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal. She also notes a historical occurrence that is till one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in American history.

Cajun Cottage Under the Oaks has quite a Hurricane themed post along with links to her posts and memories on Rita. What we call the often forgotten hurricane.

The Brown Pelican Society has a good many post as usual. His first post has a Louisiana focus. The rest have a major pro-life focus and need to be read.

Astonished Yet At Home needs our prayers in a big way as his father may be in his last days. He need put up a lot of post yesterdays that are very much worth reading. I will spend some more time this afternoon going through his entries. He has a entry on Philip K. Dick and the Search for Truth that looks very interesting. He remind us to root for God's Baseball team the cubs in Root, Root, Root for the Cubbies! He has an post that links to LSU grad and conservative commentator Rod Dreher about the 100 people that dies at Mass in Peru during the horrible earthquake. The important discussion as he points out occurs in the comments. He has this link on some tragic news that occurred in Kansas. Keep those families in your prayers.

As I stated Tobias, while waiting for his ICU Visit has a ton of links to keep us busy. He has this interesting interview with a former seminarian, who is pretty wide known now, that sadly abandoned his Catholic faith but has not adopted a pop spirituality while he looks for truth. He hast this link to a Novena for St Augustine .

Tobias has posted this link on Combatting Secularism with Gratitude. He has this link that I am sure going to read this afternoon. That is The Patient Person . That is a link to the articles by a Baton Rouge Advocate journalist that talked about her struggles with terminal cancer till she passed away. This series is worth a bookmark to read when needed. This post The Sacred and the Human is about how the an encounter with the sacred is the solution to violence.. He has also has a couple of Religious music vids also on his Saturday post.

For The Greater Glory has several good post up. He direct us to a little humor regarding Matt Drudge here. He has a major post on what Catholic Louisiana author Ann Rice had to say about voting in the next elections. I am going to spend some time reading this but Aragorn's commentary seems right on. He also takes issue with a Catholic blogger that thinks Senator Brownback should not be challenging Romney on how seep his convictions are on the Pro-life issue. I agree they should. It is a primary and things like this should happen.

Full Circle has a event we should take note of this week. He is going to be speaking at his Church in the Baton Rouge area on his Journey to the Catholic faith. It will occur this Thursday and he has the details at the link

Thoughts & Ruminations from Fr. Ryan tell what happens to modern day heretics. He has a post about the truth about Witch Hunts. He also remembers our Fallen Navy folks that died while serving their country this past week in North Carolina.

That is it for the Louisiana Catholic blogger roundup. Check back tomorrow for another installment of what Louisiana bloggers are saying. :)
