Louisiana Catholic Roundup for Sunday August 12

Catholic Tube has a great you tube vid of the day dealing with the Eucharist andthe Rosary. Also there is a Vid on the difference one person can make when they follow Christ.

De Gratia has a Code of Civil Canon Law that looks like a lot like our Codal Article in the Louisiana Civil code.

The Brown Pelican Society has many post as usual this morning. LOts of great stuff there this morning. He again is focusing on the real presence in several of his post. Including this one on Blessed Mother Teresa and the Eucharist.

I would check out the From The Recamier today. She reminds us that we celebrated yesterday St Clare of Assisi and tell us a lot more historical facts of interest. But she also post on something I hoping to post on yesterday and didn't. That is the cause for for making a Girl here a Saint. That is the little Cajun Saint Charlene Richard (pronounced REE-chard) (died 1959). I might do a post of resources on her. She also has a seperate post on a Catholic book about the Mass she recommends.

It is something that Charlene Richard died on the day that she did and that she she is so id'ed with the cajuns even though of course she is for the world. This week we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary. I will posting a good bit on that this week. But that day also has special significance for Louisiana Folks and especially those of Cajun heritage. Stay tuned.

For the Greater Glory Blog out of LSU (Geaux Tigers) has several great post since we checked in yesterday. He has a link on looking for Christianity in mainstream culture. He has a hilarious post to a link a link on the Top Ten Catholic reject lines. He has a link to some horrible Catholic Liturgical abuses.

By the way, I will not be referring to this blogger by his Christian name as much but instead call him Aragorn. Click on this post to find the cool reason why. I am excited about his new job and will link to those articles.

Michael(we shall start this Aragon buisness tomorrow) has three more really good post.

First the "Catholic" blogger that Michael gave some criticisms too on his Jindal spoof is not that happy. Now Sir Ashley Morris, the blogger that is so upset, complaints are so rich. He gets all upset that how dare Catholic bloggers question his faith or point out a Catholic should think twice about doing what he did . He is also referring to also Tobis at Astonished, Yet at Home! .I think my blog missed his attention. He then pulls out the very over used line "Holier than Thou". Now what makes this all rich is that his post spoofing Jindal did the exact same thing in liberal sort of way. It appears that Mr. Ashley Morris is questioning Jindal's faith and what he experienced by putting it up to ridicule. This of course flys over his head. Catholics have a duty to point out in a fraternal like way to fellow Catholics that as Catholics they represent the faith. IF they put their ideas in the public square and it touches on Catholicism they should be prepared for some Christian criticism and correction sometimes.

Leaving the subject of Liberal Catholic bloggers that get all upset that people question if they should make a fellow Catholic's faith a subject of ridicule for political points.

Michael then has quite a substantial post on results of the Iowa straw Poll last night. I agree with him that the Iowa straw poll shows it is a battle between Huckabee and Brownback. I also think Brownback did well enough to stay in. However I will say this. Huckabee came in second despite the long time advantage of the Brownback campaign. Kansas, where Senator Brownback is from, is very close to Iowa. Therefore portions of that state have gotten very familar with Brownback. Also Brownback has a logistical Volunteer advantage of getting people on the ground to help him. I do agree though Brownback is not out of this yet.

Lastly check out this post that Michael did ont he Latin Liturgy.

Moving on to the rest of the Louisiana Catholic blogs.

Astonished yet at Home despite feeling a tad under the weather has a few post up. First he notes "Holier than Thou" Ashley Morris blogs complaints also. HE has a good post on how the Louisiana Gay community is ripping Bobby Jindal. He really responds well to them especially as to religion. Also let me say to the Stonewall Democrat of Louisiana. Get a life. Gay people often have a great sense of humor. I guess that is short supply down there. This is reference to a tee shirt that is sold at the Bobby Jindal is Good Site that is on my links. IS this the best the opponents of Jindal can do.

Also we find a second big heavy weight Catholic blogger linked to his blog. The second this WEEK!!! Amy Welborn over at her new digs, links to Tobis on the issue of The Emergent Church. HE palns to blog more today so check back on him

Check on Father Allen's blog today. I get a blank screen when I load it so that means he is probally doing some of the changes on it that he has been talking about.

Anyway that is the roundup. THere are numerous Catholic bloggers in Louisiana I am not aware of. I really enjoy doing this roundup as a aspect of this blog. I thinl Louisiana Catholic bloggers nned to come together and support each other. SO if you know of a Louisiana Catholic blog let me know and I will look at adding it.
