Louisiana Catholic Blogger Update for Tuesday(Big Post This Morning)

Sorry For the Delay. I like to get this up earlier but darn work is intervening. Also there is a lot going in the Louisiana blogshere today

First let me highlight this excellent Podcast again at Catholic Underground. This is where faith meets the new media as they put it.

I think this is very well done and they are getting quite an audience. Newly Ordained FR. Chris Decker(who is on the Louisiana Catholic Links) from the Diocese of Baton Rouge , Fr Ryan(who is on my the Louisina Catholic links) from the Diocese of ALexandria, and Mr Leblanc (who is on my Louisiana Catholic links at Dei Gratia also) from the Diocese of Lafayette come together to make a fun and smart program. Here again is the description
Seminarians on NFP, PV vs. Mac style, Vidcasting Archbishops, Learning the Extraordinary Form on the interwebs mark part of our cast this time around. Also, we revisit the copyright and downloading issue, this time with Joshua LeBlanc. In addition, we cover the new John Paul the Great University setting up shop to train Catholics to use tech, business, and faith together. Also, we go through a bit of backChat!

I am going to interact with something that was mentioned by Fr Decker and is also on his blog coming up in this post. I find this John Paul the II University they talked about very interesting.

Astonished, yet at Home has a lot of good posts. He is not "officially" launched yet but that is coming this week. I am sure I receive my invitation for the Launching party at Mansurs in Baton Rouge anyday :).
First read this post where he has this prayer request.

Astonished was a Catholic blogger that was mindful of the anniversary of the Atomic bomb blast yesterday. Go to his blog to check them out. I am thinking about giving my own thoughts on it in a few days on the anniversary of Nakasaki. I will probally interact with some of his post if I decide to do that blog entry.

However, He ahs a blog entry that really caught my eye. That is The Emergent Church and Trendy American Religion . I have a great interest in the Emergent Church movement and in fact have posted on it and have several of them on on my blog list. Tobis is intereacting with a article here by big Catholic blogger Mark Shea. I think Tobis is correct in sort of giving a more balanced and postive picture of the Emergent Church movement. I might do a a post interacting with Shea's post. However Tobis already has done that so why reinvent the wheel. Let me say I really disagree with this portion of Shea's argument when he says:" but they sort of start to disintegrate when the discussion turns to things like truth claims, theology, and all that Eurocentric white male stuff that used to be known as the Great Tradition and, before that, as the "Catholic tradition". Well if he means there is a divergence of opinion yes. In fact they are searching. However I do think his wording gives a impression that is not true. In the blogs I have seen they interact with this tradition a good bit. For instance in a blog that I classify as in this group that is on my links we see the following entries all in the last few weeks: The Papacy: Questions Regarding Anglicanism and Roman Catholicism, A Prayer "For an Anniversary of One Departed", Purgatory: Questions Regarding Anglicanism and Roman Catholicism, The Immaculate Conception of Mary, A Meditation on Mary, and many other. I am kicking myself that I have not got involved in the comments here. I intend to offer my view on the new Pope question. These questions he is asking I have seen on other blogs. Perhaps Mr Shea has commented here and given his imput. If not maybe he should get busy. I hate to be critical of Shea here but I wished he had phrased that better. Anyway back to Louisian blogs.

Thy Nose to the Marble. by Father Decker has a great post on a resource for the 62 missal. May the vocations of Priests like Father Decker grow. I think he is the priest at the same Church that one if not two of my Louisiana bloggers go too. Keep a eye on this post and the Catholic Underground post I mention above. This resource was mentioned last night on that show. However our Aussie Catholic blogger who was listening(Louisiana Catholics have a International Audience!!!!) ,The Bob Catholic Show, had this piece up shortly after it aired where he thinks this is not the actual 62 missal and needs to be look into(see post and comments). I am not sure there are a ton of differences but someething to be aware of.

For The Greater Glory has this great post on Catholics and Football. This post is hilarious so check it out. It hits the Pro Foootball teams. I am printing it out to take to someone now. In the end his conclusion is correct. He knows that it is a mortal Sin or least a very big Venial sin that will like give you 10,ooo years in Purgatory not to root for the real Catholic team. Guess who that is.

The Brown Pelican Society has as Usual a slew of Post. He hits on a lot of news story again and news of the Church that we need to be aware of.

Wow, so much already and we are just finishing the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

From the Reclaimer has another great Catholic and Historical update for yesterday.

Dei Gratia is going through Canon Law and things we should be aware of. This is his post regards Bishops. One Blogger I visit had a great post hopw Canon Law is not some legalistic stuff but really is imbuded with the Gospel. I am going to try to find that post and put it on the blog today. I think it is a good read as we follow these Canons. Canon Law is a lot more than just Annulments!!

Catholic Tube has a a new vid up I intend to watch tonight. It is a Tip on bringing the Faith to Work to You.

We are in the Home stretch here.

Now Going to the ArchDiocese of New Orleans

Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message I mention last night had another great post. HE is Texas right now but he is a New Orleans as it can get and has served this state most of his lige. He mentions that yesterday was alos the death of St Dominics. St Dominics in New Orleans has a BEAUTIFUL kinda of painting or Mosaic portrayal of him in the Church if memory serves me right. What happened to New Orleans pains me and especially Lakeview. Last time I was down I could not force myself to go see that neighborhood. It is coming back and I intend to visit Lakeview and St Dominics when I am in NEw Orleans next.

Praise God , Fr. Kenneth Allen has updated his blog. I think Father is being too hard on himself on trying to decide where his blog should go :) Anyway go by and encourage him. I enjoyed his former blog alot

Anyway that is the Louisiana blogger roundup for today. I really need to get some more Louisiana Catholic bloggers on my list. Goodness I am the only blogger I have listed for the Diocese of Shreveport. This Diocese runs from the Red River to the Mississippi. I am sure there are others out there. Needless to say Alexandria, Houma, and Lake Charles Dioceses all are in urgent need of blogs for me to put on my list. So if you know of one let me know

I would imagine it would have to be a mortal sin; I mean, not cheering for the saints is a rejection of a critical part of our creed. How can one claim to believe in the "communion of saints" and still root against saints in our midst?
