The Louisiana Blogger Roundup for August 16th

Let us start in the Diocese of Lafayette.
First let me start with From The Recamier. I want to start withher because she mentions something I wanted to talk about ysterday and forgot. Yesterday was not only important because of the Feast of the Assumption. That Feast has a very IMPORTANT Louisiana connection. It also has a connection for Americans in parts of New England too. Go to her post here for the details. She also is quite a reader and alerts us to this interesting book.

Catholic Tube has this great video tribute to St. Maximillian Kolbe.

Dei Gratia has another important post on Canon law. This one dealing with Abstinence and fasting. He also mentions in passing the conflict that occurs with St Patricks Day. I read something that the Vatican has done something to help that out for the coming year. I have to check that out again.

Heading North to the Diocese of Alexandria we visit the Thoughts & Ruminations from Fr. Ryan . In his August 16th post he hits on the Catholic Controversy with Islam in the Netherlands. I have never been to the Netherlands but I always have envisioned it as a heretical disneyworld. That is probally unfair but that is the perception I get.

Heading down to the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

Astonished, Yet at Home! has two post up. First is this post regarding ,in my view, the insufferable Garrison Keillor. I saw this earlier and I plan to engage this great sage later.

The second is a post that pro lifers nationwide should take a look at. This Should Count for Pro-Lifers: Why Doesn't It? involved Democrat Attorney General Foti of Louisiana. I had a conversation this morning with someone on this point that is the know. I encourage all pro life people to read this. I think it is important

The Brown Pelican Society of course has lots of news.I am going to be referencing two of his post later.

We now go the Queen Catholic Jurisidiction of Catholicism in Louisiana , the Arch Diocese of New Orleans
Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message , who is a YAT, but is in currently have to spread the faith amnong Texans has a good post up today. It deals with todays Gospel.

Blessed in NOLA has two post up since we last checked in. First is this fun post called Last Days of Summer - First Days of School. She and her husband took the day off and spent if with their kids doing fun things in the area before they went to school. That is a great idea. I wished my parents had done that. I hated the first day of school. I was never in that crowd that said" I am glad school was starting because I was bored". Anyway there is a lot of good pics and links of things to do in the NOLA area. Incuding something in Folsom I was not aware of.

She also has this post called Time to Get Organized....
She points out a blogger that is running a contest and there is FREE PRIZE. Check it out

Father Allen appears to be working on his blog and there is Progress. It seems the new look is about to come online. Check back in on him
