An interesting article about the conversion of the "Prince of Darkness" AKA Robert Novak to Catholicism and An Insight into Catholic Washington DC

Prince of Darkness’ explains Catholic conversion is the title of a interesting Catholic News article.

Robert Novak is of course well known in US political circles. What is really interesting is that a former "source" he used in the past for his work was the priest that helped bring him into the Church. That is Msgr. Vaghi pastor of the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, Md. Msgt Vaghi , before going to Seminary, was a former Republican lawyer and adviser to Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M.

Republicans Politicos becoming Priest!!! Whats next :)

In fact this article gives us a clue and a window to the important "Catholic World" that mingles with and try to show Christ in DC

I find Msgr Vaghi pretty interesting and have run across his name before. I found it a few minutes ago here.

"Msgr. Peter Vaghi, who has been pastor of St. Patrick Church downtown for nine years, has been appointed pastor of Church of the Little Flower, Bethesda. He will replace Msgr. William Kane, who is retiring.

Born in 1948, Msgr. Vaghi attended Gonzaga College High School here; Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass.; the University of Salzburg, Austria, where he studied as a Fulbright Scholar; the University of Virginia School of Law, Charlottesville; and the Gregorian University, Rome. Ordained in 1985, he was later appointed assistant pastor of St. Patrick's and became pastor there in 1995, the same year he was named a monsignor.

He has been active in numerous Catholic organizations such as the John Carroll Society of which he is chaplain and the Downtown Washington Serra Club. While a practicing attorney before ordination, he was an associate in the Washington firm of Sidley & Austin and legal consultant to Sen. Pete Domenici (R.-N.M.). "

From the NYT
Monsignor Vaghi serves as the chaplain of the John Carroll Society, a 51-year-old Washington-based charitable and social organization. Judge Roberts's wife is a member of the board of governors, as is Mary Ellen Bork, the wife of Judge Robert H. Bork, whose nomination to the Supreme Court was bitterly opposed by Democrats and failed in 1987.

In fact we see here that Salon reported that the now Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and his family followed Monsignor Vaghi to his new Parish.

At times like this I think Rome, the ArchDiocese of DC, and the Good Lord know what they are doing.
