I realize that at times the "theme" of this blog appears to be a mess. However in all this talk about Catholicism, politics, Louisiana politics, Louisiana Catholic items, Current events, LSU Football, Saints Foootball, and La Tech Football there is a method in all these madness.
I sort of have two guidelines I follow.
First, to blog for me and have fun. Blogs should not become a chore. I think that is one reason why so many good bloggers burn out. Keeping this first rule is essential.
Second, to try to keep the majority of these posts about what I truly love. That is my Faith and Christ and his Church. I find that naturally goes into other topics.
Still I need structure. The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is Wednesday. I would like to do a little to honor our Blessed Mother and also to keep her in my mind the next two days .Catholics are so blessed by having a liturgical life that is also centered around important days and Seasons. When I converted that really struck me
Therefore every second Catholic oriented post I do shall be about Mary the next two days.
I think some converts to Catholicism and even cradle Catholics that are rediscovering their faith make a mistake that they must embrace with enthusiam all aspects of the Catholic faith and all it richness right away. More to the point that if they don't feel spiritual connections and fulliment in every Catholic practice or devotion something is wrong. Well nothing is wrong. When developing relationships it takes time for that to grow. The key is to keep asking for that happen and be open to it. I have found time after time that the richness and graces of the faith that did not click years ago click all of a sudden at times. Like a lightbulb going off as they say.
The Virgin Mary was that way for me. Now when I converted, I assented intellectually to the dogmas and beliefs relating to her place and importance she has in Christian life and devotion. However it really took time for me to develop a relationship with her. As a matter of fact that pretty much has only occured over the last couple of years. I suppose it took some drama in my life for me to reach out to my Mother. Now the phrase "To Jesus through Mary" is starting to mean something real in my life. I suppose I want to continue that and to use this blog to help me keep her in the front of my mind the next few days.
