Adding A Prayer of the Faithful At Mass

Even though I took this poster at Vox Nova to task here a tad, I think morning minion is correct that we need to pray for the poor Iraqi people that have been through so much. They are our allies in this struggle against evil.

I should note that as to the Prayer of the faithful she recounts we need to be praying not only for Military in Iraq but all our Coalition partners in the WOT including forgotten Afghanistan. Those poor people need our prayers too. I have no doubt that if Monteal, London, Paris, or Hamburg was enduring the sucide bombing we would have them in our prayers every week

The one thing that has disturbed me about this conflict is that we fail to engage the Iraqis themselves as real people. We say the Iraqis are doing nothing to stand up for themselves. Why do we think that? Why do Iraqi soldiers deaths mean less than others or more to the point why are they not covered. I think that is a combined problem that comes from attitudes of the left, the right ,and the media.

We should be seeing these headlines on our TV everyday.

Though I support what we are doing in Iraq, I have not been pleased how Christians in Iraq are literally under the gun and being martyred on a daily basis. We should demand from our Government and the Iraqi Government that more be done to safeguard these ancient communities.

I noticed this movement in Great Britain and wonder why I am not seeing it here. Perhaps we should start it. I would put a banner like this on my blog. Basically it is a message to send to our Govt and the Iraqi Govt to make sure that Iraqi Christian community is protected. We of course wish that for all Iraqis but as Catholics we have a special obligation to remember that part of the Church. We cannot forget them like we often forget the ancient Lebanese Christian communities.
