ATTENTION ROME AKA BATON ROUGE IS NOT BURNING
Well it is the day after and LSU is still standing. We even survived that faction of Tiger Fans that see the glass half full 24/7 and, took this day as an opportunity to complain nonstop.
And the Valley Shook has a few thoughts here at LSU QBmageddon: How are you even reading this right now?
To be honest I am more concerned about the LSU baseball team than the football team as to Zach Lee's departure.
In the Shreveport Times there is a good article on this. See Scott Ferrell: MLB too much for LSu
he makes some good points . First being perhaps people should lighten up on Les Miles a bit. Also we have no clue how good he would have been as QB. It was not Holy Writ he would have been great. In fact were we not getting some indications that yes he was enduring the same struggles all Freshman QBs do.
In the Gannett papers Guilbeau has his piece up. It also introduces to the preferred walk on that will take the #3 spot at QB. That being Barrett Bailey, a true freshman walk-on from University High in Baton Rouge See AFTER ZACH: With Lee gone, LSU turns to new third-team quarterback.
Returning to LSU Baseball where I think the real damage was done as to Lee's departure see Guilbeau's piece Mainieri still angry at MLB. WELL I BET HE IS!! This all needs to be reformed and quick.
By the way let me interject some positive news!! See Mathieu turning heads at LSU from the Advocate. Feel better? On the LSU baseball front some positive news. From the Advocate see LSU baseball class strong despite draft losses. Also see LSU gets waiver for Bourgeois, Rittiner.
That last link has some interesting information in it including this:
More help on the way
Mainieri said he and associate head coach David Grewe might not be completely done recruiting for the upcoming season.
It’s possible some current high school seniors on the Tigers’ recruiting radar are weighing the option of graduating in December and enrolling early at LSU.
Another interesting possibility is outfielder Spencer Ware, a freshman running back on the LSU football team and Davis’ high school teammate at Princeton High in Cincinnati.
At football media day, Ware said “Baseball has always been my second love and it’s a real close second. I’d love the chance to play both sports.”
Ware said he spoke briefly to Mainieri about pulling double duty when he came to LSU on an official recruiting visit. Ware batted .411 with 15 stolen bases last spring at Princeton.
Mainieri mentioned Ware as Tigers football coach Les Miles walked into an interview room Tuesday.
“I haven’t really talked to Les about Spencer Ware,” Mainieri said with a smile.
Miles immediately deadpanned “He’s not playing baseball.”
See it is not all bad.
Update- As soon as hit the submit button And the Valley Shook put up a post up with MAJOR links on everything LSU and what is the papers. See here.
