Did Catholics Make Up Bishops?

Chris Osgood is a Catholic convert and attends the famous Liberty University which is a Baptist school. Now as he points out today in his post today that presents some challenges.

See his post Is today anti-Catholic day? Now I am sure some Catholics might have it worse. I suspect Liberty is a much better environment for a Catholic studying than say Jimmy Swaggert's University or Bob Jones. Still one must learn the practical matter of when to speak and when to keep your mouth shut.

I do find his post funny and wonder how in the world even the most traditional Baptist Prof can pronounce the Catholic Church made up Bishops.

Many of a convert started their road to the Catholic Faith or Orthodoxy by stumbling upon the works of St Ignatius of Antioch online. This was a guy that was ordained by the Apostle Peter and likely knew the Apostle John. One reads his stuff and there are Bishops all over the place!!!

I suppose a few might be shocked that the President of the bank of Anitoch and manager of the Antioch brick company are not on the Board of Deacons and run the Church!! In other words they are vetoing the Bishop's decisions or telling him to tone it down on a controversial subject. This happens all the time in Baptist Churches and in fact is one reason why so many Baptist ministers in the South felt constrained to speak out against State mandated segregation at times.

Of course this is seen all throughout the early Church from one end of the empire to the other in the very early days.
