Director of Public Policy of Archdiocese of San Francisco Says Honeymoon Over With Obama

I think this is a very important statement from needless to say a important man in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Catholic Key has the link at San Francisco Archdiocese Challenges Pro-Obama Catholics

First I think it is important that the Catholic Key blog gives up some background on this man

Wesolek came on board under former Archbishop John R. Quinn and has worked tirelessly and effectively on issues of health care, worker and union rights, restorative justice, against the death penalty, for peace in the Middle-East, on interfaith alliances, and encouraging, supporting and securing funding for numerous community organizing initiatives in the City. He has also created a model of cooperation between the social justice and respect life functions in a diocese. Both functions have co-existed effectively under his direction for some time. In short, he is the demographic that the rhetoric, if not the actions, of the Pro-Obama Catholic campaign organizations has been aimed at.

That is not always a easy trick to keep all those Catholic efforts together. So this man appears to be someone of some substance and one that cannot be labeled with political terms.

It is a good article and points out the obvious. However let me hit these parts:
Along with others, I heard during the campaign from pro-Obama Catholics and Catholic organizations established to promote his candidacy that Obama would accomplish more than the previous administration to curtail abortions and promote life using "non-divisive" strategies. I have been eagerly looking for indications that this was indeed the case.
I have not seen anything that would indicate a "pro-life" openness or even a small move in that general direction. On the contrary, I have seen just the opposite
.

and

Most distressing, is that there is no reaction from those pro-Obama Catholics and Catholic organizations that were and are apologists for Obama and his policies. These organizations - Catholics United, Alliance of Catholics for the Common Good, Network and others - provided Catholics with a scenario that painted Obama as "pro-life." Some of them openly said that they were pro-life and would work to move policy in a pro-life direction under Obama. Where are they now? Where are there any policy initiatives that would blunt the irrevocable thrust of these Obama actions early in his presidency?
The culture of death is making deeper inroads in our national policies and there is almost no response from Catholics who helped elect President Obama. It is time for them to step up to the plate
.

That is as has been pointing out before these groups are Obama and Democrat front groups!!

In other words there was a tad of dishonesty in advertising.

But what do people expect. I have posted many times when I started to fear Obama. It was during the immigration reform battle. When Obama voted for that poison pill it put the nail in the coffin to get the bill out of the Senate. He did this at the request of the Unions. In my view it was classic Judas Iscariot. He betrayed his Republican Senator colleagues that were getting real substantial heat, his Democrat colleagues, and in the end the people the bill was trying to help.

He also betrayed for short term political gain all the Catholic organizations that made this such a priority.

The fact that this went not talked about by many in Catholic Social Justice circles just floored me. The biggest issue (Catholic Social Justice wise) besides abortion this century and the response was nothing. Well there was a response - it was to not to support Clinton and later not to support McCain that put his political life on the line to support an important Catholic Social Justice issue.

Obama got no flak from what he did from Catholic Social Justice groups. What we saw in that instance was issue of character. Why should he fear what Catholic Social Justice groups say now?

He know they will be there supporting in 2012 so why bother., Just send some funds to associated Faith based groups and pay off the right people.
