It is of some note that possible GOP hopefuls for the White House in 2012 or 2016 come from States tied to the Oil and Gas Industry. Also it is worth recalling that so much that is tied to their respective states is linked up with the whims of the Federal Government to a degree not seen in other States .
In Louisiana Big Oil is a blessing but also comes with rather unsavory aspects. How Jindal and Palin handle this of course is being watch by friend and foe alike in both parties.
In my view as a structural issue Governor Palin is in a much better position to handle the up coming bad times than Jindal is in Louisiana. It has nothing to do with their relative abilities but just a matter of the conditions of their States.
Though one gets the sense that in the State of Alaska Palin has much more aggressive political enemies than Jindal has in Louisiana.
The press can often make a misleading mess of these stories. As we saw in the closing days of the election when the AP did a horrible and false piece on the Governor and the pipeline issue
So it is of some note what I would classify as very clever hit piece on Governor Palin was done by Conde Nast’s Portfolio magazine. In fact it is the cover story.
Jim Geraghty has done some good work by looking what this story is not telling you and the inherent contractions in it. See A Nast-y Take on Governor PalinPortfolio is sure of one thing: Sarah Palin is the villain.
