How The Secular Media Is Handling "Faith" In George Bush's New Book

I am very anxious to read the new Bush book. Get Religion has a post on how the media is handling so far the very "obvious" Christian faith component of the book. See The real Style of Bush’s faith.

One part of the book where I hope this might come out is Bush's fight for immigration reform. The media and liberals largely succeeded in giving cartoon inaccurate description of George Bush's Christianity. That is of the some far right fundamentalist full of the usual stereotypes.

That description is odd since this "born again" President is a Methodist , was an regular communicant at St John Episcopal across the street from the White House, and seemed to take aspects of Catholicism very seriously.

In many ways the media and observors failed to note the Presidents Episcopal background combined with his Methodism that has an emphasis at times on social justice and works. Methodist don't go around patting themselves on the back for that but do it rather quietly. In many ways Bush was the average devout Texas Methodist in this regard.

Looking foward to reading it.
