Archbishop Hannan- After Decades of Martydom Saints Should Have Football's Heavenly Reward

When Archbishop Hannan finally passes on I hope the nation takes a moment to think about him. I am having a hard time thinking of a man living that seen so much history up close and personal than Hannan has.

The New Orleans Catholic Paper has a nice article on Hannan and the the history of the New Orleans Saints.

I like this part at Abp. Hannan’s Prayer For The Saints Had True Vision (Pdf File)

Archbishop Hannan helped
name the Saints, giving his
reassurance to Gov. John McKeithen
that he did not consider
the nickname sacrilegious.
“But I have to tell you,”
he told McKeithen, “from the
viewpoint of the church, most
of the saints were martyrs.”
These Saints are long past
the martyr stage. Archbishop
Hannan doesn’t want to predict
a score, but as a wise man
once said in Vegas, never bet
against a 96-year-old archbishop.
“It would be tremendous,”
Archbishop Hannan said. “As
a matter of fact, if it happens,
the downtown parish of the
city will simply explode.”
Let the blizzard in hell begin.

Needless to say the decades of persecution and trials has been hard to say the least. Heer is to Sunday
