Good Article On Why Louisiana Voters Are Supporting David Vitter

The Houma paper has a good article here at Criticism stings but doesn’t stick to Vitter. This about sums it up:
Rather than dwell on the scandals, voters “are saying to themselves, ‘The president is a disaster, the Democrats have lost their minds, and I’m supposed to worry about some employee of David Vitter’s?’ ” Stonecipher said. Those attacks are backfiring because they make Melancon look desperate, he said.

I must comment on this part though:
He said religious voters in north Louisiana, the kind who might normally punish a politician for similar scandals, appear willing to look the other way this election cycle to defeat a Democrat with ties to the president.

I think this is often assumed. It seems to me that back in the days religious voters in North Louisiana were voting for Edwin Edwards all over the place despite his love for many women.
