Ted Haggard, Gay Afghans, and Being Labeled "Homosexual"

People are having a lot of fun with Evangelist Ted haggard and his wife talking about how he has been rehabiltated from his former sexual problems.

I always find it amusing that gay advocate groups proclaim themselves as spokepeople for Gays, lesbians, transgendered, and bisexuals.

When a story like the Haggard one come up (or involving Senators in Airport Bathrooms) the BISEXUAL flys out the window. They don't exist it seems.

There is a lot going on with that. First there is a political motivation in proclaiming everyone gay that has engaged in some sort of same sex conduct. Also if one knows any number of true gay men there is some resentment of bisexuals by many. They think they are not just being "honest" and such. Now it gets more complex and the rules change when it involves women. We all laugh at the term lip stick lesbian at colleges because we know its true. They might have experimented with same sex relationships but then after college they are normal heterosexuals. For some reason they are not labled gay or bisexual for life as men are . Again the rules are confusing and in the background is politics.

At the most one could say Haggard is bisexual. That is even not clear.

Human sexuality is a more fluid than a lot of us want to admit. In fact it is fluid over a lifetime especially when you are younger. Thus the danger in my opinion of some homosexual high schools groups where a young person that might be confused, or just overly wanting sexual release is labeled for a lifetime. Father Scalia talks about that. See A Label that Sticks.

Many people have had varying degrees of same sex attraction. For men I suspect there is a lot going on here. Sexual release, flirting with the taboo, the excitement etc etc.

For instance most of the guys that get busted in sting operation in parks, bathrooms(tea rooms) adult theatres are not really gay. Especially since there seems to another sexual fetish involved that at it's essence is not related to homosexuality .

I think they would be pretty horrible depressed homosexuals if they had to choose that life. I don't think they could be fuctional bisexuals either that experience "Love" beyond the sexual act with a person of the same sex .

So it is a tad more complex than people would like it to be. I think we realize this but there other battles make us ignore this.

Which brings us to Afghanistan where American and British soliders are confused as heck with the "gay" habits of a considerable number of Afghan men

Gay Patriot has thoughts on that here.
