Remember When Liberals Movies Did Not Suck?

Dirty Harry’s Place… has a great post up (among many others) called Top Five: Liberal Movies That Don’t Suck . I very much like his list. I also agree with this comment about one he lists The China Syndrome (1979)

"Regrettably, “China Syndrome” was so well made that it has had a disastrous effect on US energy policy ever since. We can’t even begin to think about nuclear energy in this country and it would definitely help out on the cost of energy. "

Isnt' that the truth. Let me add the Movie Reds to that list. I just love that movie and it is so well made. I watch it every time it is on Yes even Reagan liked it!!!

Is Full Metal Jacket a movie with liberal overtones? Perhaps but I really liked that one.

Also Network ( I AM MAD AS HELL AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE) was great.

OH let me add Three Kings (1999)I thought that was very well done. It also has the great quality of biting Liberals back because in the movie it is portrayed as cynical we did not liberate the Iraqis :)

Three Kings made its political points, but the film succeeded in part because its moral drama wasn't the war itself but the actions of its primary characters, who struggled to do the right thing.

I thought the Clooney character's declaration that he "had no choice" but to do what was right - help the abducted Iraqis - spoke to a "conservative" conception of freedom: freedom not as doing whatever one wants, but freedom as doing the good.
